چکیده
Androstenone is one of the main compounds responsible for boar taint, and 3β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (3βHSD) might be involved in its metabolism. In this study, the gene expression of 3βHSD and 17β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (17βHSD) were determined by real-time PCR analysis and related to the concentrations of androstenone, testosterone, and estrone sulphate (E1S). The experiments were performed on gonadally intact male pigs classified based on high or low fat androstenone concentrations, as predetermined by HPLC, as well as on immunocastrated and surgically castrated male pigs. The male pigs with high androstenone concentrations in fat had low 3βHSD gene expression in liver and testis. Moreover, the 17βHSD gene expression in liver, but not in testis, varied negatively with fat androstenone concen

Synthesis and Molecular Docking Studies of 2-arylideneindan-1,3-diones Derivatives as an Inhibitor of 17β-hydroxysteroid Dehydrogenase Type 1
Due to the drawbacks of applying catalysts in the synthesis of α,β-unsaturated structure units and the importance of these materials, electrochemistry has been introduced as an efficient alternative. Therefore, herein a high-yield synthesis of 2-arylideneindan-1,3-diones is proposed. The procedure is carried out in propanol, using electrons as a green catalyst for generating propanol anion...
متن کاملEstrogen and androgen-converting enzymes 17β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase and their involvement in cancer: with a special focus on 17β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1, 2, and breast cancer
Sex steroid hormones such as estrogens and androgens are involved in the development and differentiation of the breast tissue. The activity and concentration of sex steroids is determined by the availability from the circulation, and on local conversion. This conversion is primarily mediated by aromatase, steroid sulfatase, and 17β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenases. In postmenopausal women, this is...

This study was to investigate the effect of annexin A5 on testosterone secretion from primary rat Leydig cells and the underlying mechanisms. Isolated rat Leydig cells were treated with annexin A5. Testosterone production was detected by chemiluminescence assay. The protein and mRNA of Steroidogenic acute regulatory (StAR), P450scc, 3β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (3β-HSD), 17β-hydroxysteroid d...
متن کاملAmple Evidence: Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) Conversion into Activated Steroid Hormones Occurs in Adrenal and Ovary in Female Rat
Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) is important for human health, especially for women. All estrogens and practically half of androgens are synthesized from DHEA in peripheral tissues. However, the mechanism and exact target tissues of DHEA biotransformation in the female are not fully clear. The present study showed that maximal content of androstenedione (AD) and testosterone (T) were observed at ...
متن کاملEffects of genistein and equol on human and rat testicular 3β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase and 17β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase 3 activities
The objective of the present study was to investigate the effects of genistein and equol on 3β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (3β-HSD) and 17β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase 3 (17β-HSD3) in human and rat testis microsomes. These enzymes (3β-HSD and 17β-HSD3), along with two others (cytochrome P450 side-chain cleavage enzyme and cytochrome P450 17α-hydroxylase/17-20 lyase), catalyze the reactions th...
